Position Overview

You will be part of a team that designs and supports the Siemens vision for North American Rail Automation. You will be working closely with subject matter experts, architects, developers and testers to develop and support the Siemens Back Office Server (BOS), which is part of the Positive Train Control (PTC) initiative. PTC is shaping the landscape of the rail transportation industry for decades to come and will be leveraged as a backbone for future technologies that will lead to network optimization and an autonomous rail network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, enhance, unit-test, and support functionality of the BOS
  • Provide estimates for modules under development, and estimate own work
  • Take leadership initiatives in software development projects

General Requirements

  • BS Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude

Detailed Requirements

  • Ability to develop quality software in C++ and quickly come up to speed in similar languages
  • Ability to analyze and fix problems
  • Ability to professionally interface with peers and management
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Ability to be part of a 24X7 on-call rotation
  • Experience in an agile environment
  • Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks
  • Experience with LINUX operating systems

Preferred Knowledge

  • Experience with complex software topics such as multi-threading and inter-process communication asynchronicity
  • Experience in interfacing with customer and providing technical feedback in a customer-friendly manner
  • Experience with the version control system git
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience with AI and data analytics
