The Power Diagnostics Engineering Technician is responsible for monitoring the daily data flow from multiple worldwide customer power plants and resolving issues with the data acquisition system and remote network connections. The position requires the ability to work 12 hour shifts (Including Night Shifts - 5 PM to 5 AM) with paid overtime.
Ensure daily acquisition of data for all monitored Power Diagnostics sites.
Acquire partial data files, Sequence of Event files and control system data from monitored sites, upon request of Operations Engineers and Service Engineering.
Answer customer phone calls and track issues for Power Diagnostics sites (24/7 Operation).
Maintain high levels of communication between support groups (Power Diagnostics Operations - Orlando, Service Engineering, Power Diagnostics - Mulheim, Erlangen WIN_TS group, etc.)
Support Power Diagnostics Install technicians with VPN installations and network connections remote, from the Power Diagnostics Center.
Data Acquisition System support - handle first level troubleshooting and maintenance - reboots, tag additions, DCS synchronization, Data quality investigations etc.
Handle first level troubleshooting of all issues associated with the Power Diagnostics Services rule base processing.
Support Mulheim Power Diagnostics data acquisition and monitor the Mulheim Power Diagnostics infrastructure and alert as necessary.
Provide first level site data reviews on weekends, to identify anomalies and provide proper hand-off of issues to the on-call operations engineer.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and Power Point).
Familiar with Cisco routers and firewalls.
Networking and Computer troubleshooting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Positive Customer focused attitude.
Must have self-motivated work ethic.
Associates degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training preferred. HS diploma or equivalent required. Specialized skill training/certification may be required.
Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Ability and willingness to work non-standard shifts, including nights.
Multi-lingual, including Spanish, a plus, but not required.
No travel is required for this position.
