As a Systems Engineering - Agile Product Owner, you will be responsible for maximizing the value of the products created by a scrum development team, understanding engineering details while seeing the high level solution, maintaining schedule and meeting commitments. The Product Owner (PO), needs to have a solid understanding of users and of future trends for the domain or type of system being developed in order to make sound decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Translating the customer/end user needs into a vision of what needs to be developed, and conveys the vision to the scrum team
- Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements
- Ensuring the team has an adequate amount of prepared tasks prior to work start
- Planning and prioritizing product feature backlog and development
- Defining product vision, road-map and growth opportunities
- Assessing value, developing cases, and prioritizing stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value and are aligned with product strategy
- Providing backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
- Leading product release planning and setting expectation for delivery of new functionalities
- Actively mitigate impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
- Engaging with team, participating in design decisions, daily scrums, release planning, sprint planning, retrospectives, demonstrations
- Working with leadership and across teams to limit design/workload volatility for developers
- Interfacing between the Customer, end users, program management, engineering leadership and system architects, developers and the integration and test teams
- Ensuring clear communication between stakeholders and teams, gaining buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and providing clear strategy, instructions and deliverables to the developers
Required Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
- Bachelor degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or biomedical) and 8 years of engineering management experience
- In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
- Experience in an Agile or DevOps development environment
- Understanding of the product lifecycle and change management process
- Experience in functional decomposition, use case development, interface analysis and definition
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to meet timelines
- Knowledge of component level integration and test
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team
Desired Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
- Electromechanical medical device development
- Experience using DOORS
- Domain experience preferred
