Job Description Summary
The Business Analyst (BA) will function as a liaison between business and IT units, with the goal of defining, measuring, and monitoring company-wide data quality. Primary responsibilities include the discovery and analysis of data quality issues, as well as the design of necessary monitoring metrics. The BA must be able to perform duties with general or minimal supervision.
Serve as lead and primary contact for all activities related to assigned subject area (s).
Actively promote the improvement of enterprise data quality.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and subject area experts to define, identify and escalate data issues or opportunities to the appropriate subject matter experts. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of identified data issues.
Profile data and assist in the development of effective data quality controls.
Organize and facilitate data quality improvement initiatives as necessitated by business stakeholders.
Acts as liaison between business subject area experts and technical analysts in the analysis, design and testing phases of the data quality process.
Assist in the writing of business and technical definitions of tables, columns, terms, data modeling and database design.
Facilitate communication between IT and business stakeholders as necessary.
Manages data communities; responsible for ensuring approvals are maintained.
Conducts analysis of requested data; demonstrates understanding of data modeling, tools and practices as well as establishing and gaining consensus on standards, definitions, policies and rules associated with the enterprise.
Assists in the management of data as an asset: Promulgates data governance concepts throughout the enterprise.
Ensures that research and assignments coming out of committee, stakeholder and steward meetings contribute to enterprise-wide objectives for data quality, internal/external compliance.
