UDl (undefined line) Project Management Specialist

Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of the UDL Engineer/PM specialist position is to investigate the root causes of parts that are not orderable and find solution to make them orderable in the UDL (Un-defined Lines) Team within SPS (Spare Parts Suppliers) of Service AM of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The goal is to make parts orderable and shorten the lead time to get the parts delivered to the end customer, increase customer satisfaction and eventually contribute revenue and profitability growth of Service Americas.

Responsibilities

This responsibilities of this job are primarily focus on investigating why the parts are not orderable by working with ROC/Engineer, SQA (supplier quality), OM (Order Management) and Planning, and to find solution in a timely manner (not only resolve issue but also shorten the cycle time) Specific tasks include:

  • Investigate why part are not orderable and find out root causes and take appropriate action
  • Send out RFQs to potential vendors to obtain quotation and negotiate price/T&C
  • Develop relationship with vendors
  • Set up/update PIR/SL in SAP (RBP and GEP)
  • Work with global purchasing to set up PIR/SL to buy internally from other regions
  • Work with regional strategic buyers to get approval for parts with costs exceeding certain threshold
  • Coordinate with the SQA team (region and global) to get parts homologated and released in SAP
  • Create/extend/update vendor, if needed
  • Follow through different functions to get problem resolved
  • Participate/Implement continuous improvement for current UDL process to reduce cycle time
  • Other tasks as needed

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  1. Typical 3-5 years of successful experience in a related field: engineering and/or purchasing
  2. Experience within Procurement fields
  3. Experience in both RBP and GEP
  4. High Microsoft office proficiency, especially in excel, SAP, PLM and Teamcenter
  5. Focused and dedicated, results and customer-oriented mindset
  6. Be able to handle larger volume of parts and deliver results in a timely manner
  7. Strong communication and negotiation skill
  8. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting in a fast-paced environment
  9. Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Engineering degree/experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the wind power market, product and customer/vendors is desired
