Position Overview: The Cost Analyst is a key member of the Turbo Compressor (TCP) Advanced and Standard Business Marketing & Sales team that assists with development of cost models for supplied equipment and operational duties regarding costs within a manufacturing organization. They will exercise judgment in making model selections and adaptations for alternatives. This role will support the development of cost estimating and market benchmark pricing tools for use internal to the cost group as well as in use of the Advanced and Standard Businesses. The Cost Analyst will assist the review and maintenance of the cost estimating tools and templates.

This role will require close collaboration with GP SDO Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Finance to obtain estimates for material, hours to compile cost estimates. These interactions will be across various reporting levels including managers and individual contributors in addition to the executive leadership at the assigned manufacturing plant.


  • Support TCP efforts to develop new estimating tools and templates
  • Drive Supply Chain, Engineering and Operations review and update of costs in the estimating tolls and templates
  • Review marketing cost requests. Interpret scope and build estimates using in-house templates
  • Develop and issue target costs for booked orders
  • Understand total cost of ownership: identify and pursue areas of cost savings, using resourceful, aggressive and thorough analysis
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures
  • Manage Request for Quotes (RFQs), both self-directed and in support of internal customers and review for accuracy and completion
  • Contact suppliers to resolve cost or delivery issues
  • Special assignments as needed

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in the cost estimating field
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of procurement processes
  • Self-starter and motivated to find efficient and effective ways to accomplish end goals
  • Results-oriented with the ability to multitask and work under time constraints to meet deadlines

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Analytical, numerically astute with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Use analytical thinking to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
  • Manufacturing experience and a cost accounting understanding
  • Familiar with Oracle or SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
